So here are the instructions of what I did:

Pedal side:
On the other side of the pedal, you will need a 5mm RED led with specs between 1.8v-2.2V (most are like this)

The code for function checkRemote() calls for:
pinMode(pedalLED, INPUT_PULLUP);
digitalWrite(pedalLED, LOW);

This works without the hose if I test directly on the trap pedal, but for some reason the hose is causing issues. I have tested with a multimeter and the hose is not shorting out, but it's definately when I use the hose that the problem occurs. There is a loss of 0.2 ohms on each wire in the hose and I am assuming this natural resistance is the cause of my problems.
