A few updates...
I painted the front lens plate with green Tamiya TS-28. I can't remember where I originally saw that recommended, but it's a pretty spot on match to the green plastic that the gbfans frames are molded in. I decided to hit the rear plate faces with a flat black that I had already. That came out a bit more satiny than I expected, but I was pleased with the outcome.

For the side knobs, I confirmed with AJ that they were supposed to just fit over the screw heads, and that the inner side holes of the rear mounting plate were supposed to be tapped for the bolts to secure them in. Well, the inner holes we're way too small and definitely not tapped, and the getting the knobs over the bolt heads was a HARD fit.
I ended up using vice grips to get the bolts onto the knobs themselves. Even that method was painful. They seem on there pretty tight now so I hope they stay:

And for the inner mounting holes, I drilled those out to a 1/4" and secured the bolts in place with some shallow 1/4" nuts that I found at Lowes:

Finally I was able to get the lenses all mounted:

Getting close! Still need to do the power switch and the labels/transfers. I'm waiting for those in the mail then this should wrap up pretty quickly.
