Same, I had a family holiday out to Florida years ago and was absolutely shocked at the amount of ads on Cartoon Network. I used to wonder why shows often had these random cut-to-black cliffhanger moments before suddenly just continuing on, but now I know that's where a commercial for a Red Lobster kid's meal would have appeared if we were watching in the US. I'll never take our more infrequent UK ad breaks for granted againI am an American and am old enough to have grown up in the VHS era. Though I watched some episodes of TV shows on VHS as a kid, I never paid attention to how long each episode was. When getting a DVD player and buying TV shows as an adult I was shocked that some of the TV shows I watched as a kid were only 22 minutes long. Meaning I had to watch 8 minutes worth of ads when watching them on TV in the 90s! I did like some of the ads from the 90s. Especially the "Got Milk?" ads. Do you remember those? They were funny.
But back to the matter, yes, I find these bumpers very annoying. We already know what we're watching, just give it to me already.
My least favorite ads have always been political attack ads during every presidential and governor election. Doesn't matter which candidate was getting attacked. I wish they'd get rid of them.
