I had a bit of time this lunchtime to work on the goggles. I put some silver rub n buff on the lenses to make them a bit shinier and glued in the acrylic discs. Lastly added on the metal thumb screws (available on my Etsy store haha). The side knobs and bottom knob sticks out a little more than on the goons original files but that’s because they have real potentiometers or switches underneath. I like that I can twiddle and turn them.
Still to do:
- Basic electronics using the same 2032 coin batteries as my other goggles to let the red LED flash (not screen accurate) and also send power to the controller LEDs via a DB-15 connector. The central white lens does not illuminate; it doesn’t light up in the film.
- Add stickers. I have some metallic ones to add that I got from an Etsy seller in the uk.
- Face pad. Using the same HTC Vive pad, but this time I’ll take a bit more care when adding the poppers.
- Head strap. This time, I have some olive green webbing which I’ll use instead of black.
