It's absolutely that it wasn't an on-screen trap in GB1. Built for GB1 sure, but "built for" and "screen used" are two very different things.I love the trap and it would be the holy grail in anyones collection.
Since we only have confirmation that this was the trap used in the jogger scene for GB2, that's going to be the only screen used appearance for it.
Still a neat piece of history, wish I could've seen it in person (they never got back to me about my registration, as expected). Will have to just enjoy the 4K video Adam Savage posted of it instead.
But that being said, something tells me that the battery box gives it away as being solely GB2. (atleast the housing). I know of no GB1 trap that has the Linrose light and the toggle switch being offset. I think the offset Linrose light / toggle switch was really something that happened during GB2. (See the first image in this thread). Side note: Afterlife uses the GB1 "in line" layout of Linrose light to toggle switch.
That and the alternate position of the hex screws. I know of no battery box layout used in GB1 that has the (non central screw) layout used in GB2.
I mean Michael Gross may have alluded to the fact that the internals of the GB1 trap (servos/lights/ etc.) were carried over for GB2 traps with alternate housing. That may well be the case. And it makes sense, why create new electronics 5 years later when the old stuff just works. But the exterior of this trap to me is alien for GB1.
TLDR: I know of no GB1 trap with the offset layout of the Linrose and the battery box toggle switch.
But damn.... a quarter of a million dollars????
