General Ghostbusters Discussion • Re: Ai written containment unit manual

Yeah, I think there's a huge gap in what's being discussed here. Technical grunt work AI vs. generative AI. Also, I have zero idea what I'm talking about.

To me, generative AI is like a nasty combination of Photoshop and Google Search, meshing together existing stuff rather than creating anything new. Not unlike the modern entertainment industry, really.
We got another freakin Beatles song. A beautiful Beatles song. Thanks to AI.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

We got a new Beatles song in the 90s without any AI. It's really not The Beatles, though. Not in my eyes. Let It Be was the last record, there's no changing that. Development stuff exists, and it's cool to experience. That stuff doesn't have to be finished out just to have new material, though. I don't want to see an AI GHOSTBUSTERS: HELLBENT, either.
This song was suppose to be part of that 1990s release. The song wasn’t done flippantly. And if you look into the how and the why this was done you’d understand the production issues they had in the 1990s. It was on the same tapes as the other songs but it had mastering problems the other songs did not have. Which is why A.I. was required. In fact many Beatles fans are hoping they go back and use this process to clean the other 1990s songs such as “Free as Bird” which has some quality issues from a sound perspective. But this new song “Now and then” was worked on in the 1990s, which is how they got George Harrison on the track. But they couldn’t get John’s vocals free and seperate from the piano. So they threw in the towel and gave up. Finally technology had an answer for how this could be done.

And I don’t buy into this “just because you can doesn’t mean you should”. Do you know how much joy that song brought people. It was poignant and beautiful. And it sounded like a lost Beatles track.

You can debate whether it’s a Beatles song or not, I think it is since the surviving members and family members all consented. It featured all the Beatles. John apparently wrote it “for Paul”(that was the note on the tapes). And I have no doubt in my mind that had he lived The Beatles would’ve reunited. Was it written AS a Beatles song? No. Was it recorded as one? Heck yeah. If the argument that John did not record with the other Beatles present and thus that makes it not a Beatles song, there were many Beatles song created and written by some members of the band without input from the others.

But beyond the Beatles. I’d like you & the others here to check this out. iframe

That was created by generative AI, and it created a new a very funny thing.

Generative AI has uses. Comedy is one of them. The comedy is derived from the ridiculous and audacious nature of AI. AI is the joke. What’s that old Marshall McLuhan quote? The medium is the message?

There is a YouTuber who uses A.I. to create sometimes hilarious and often horrific videos. This one on cats is legitimately funny. His channel is full of content like this.

You brought up “just because you can doesn’t mean you should”. So Here’s one on Jurassic Park that made me chuckle.
