Literally the best part of the movie was any scene where Ray is interacting with one of the kids. Now this is the Ray I know & love! Such an improvement over Afterlife
The podcast or YouTube show Ray hosted should’ve been an actual thing they did to help market the movie. They should’ve done episodes with like Zack Baggins or Adam Savage or someone. This should’ve been a thing we could watch in a build up to the movie. That was a massive missed opportunity.
Imagine a YouTube channel suddenly popping up where Ray Stanz looks at haunted objects and the ones that aren’t get smashed with a mallet? Come on! That’s a great idea. I wanted more of that.
It was so great seeing Dan play Ray again. This movie just nailed his character. If you would’ve told me the best part of the new Ghostbusters movie was Dan Aykroyd I wouldn’t have believed you but it totally was. He had an actual role. I thought he was rather weak in Afterlife. Didn’t like the OGB’s showing up at all. But here? Like night and day.
The sequence where he spots the Ecto 1 role out without him? That’s the movie. Right there. You feel the regret but also pride. It’s a terrific acting moment from Dan. He plays it with just enough melancholy but also a tinge of hopefulness that I loved.
I know everyone loves Phoebe and she was great in Afterlife but for this movie? In my opinion everytime it cut to her the film died. But when she’s running around with Ray and Podcast? That should’ve been the movie!
They didn’t really set up the ghost walking thing well enough. If anything it should’ve been Ray doing that since they set him up wanting to be a ghost.
There was a great movie in here somewhere. But the final version just isn’t it. The villain is a big nothing that the marketing amped up. Slimer and the library ghost weren’t needed at all.
But everytime Ray is on the screen the movie worked. (Though I didn’t like how they suggested Ray had nothing to do with building the Ecto containment unit).
